Kartikeya Gummakonda is returning to the screen with COMEBACK, a title that carries a strong sense of purpose.
The young Tollywood actor has long stood out for his talent and dedication to fitness. His breakthrough film RX 100 earned him widespread recognition for its raw intensity. He later impressed as a stylish antagonist in Nani’s Gang Leader, while Tamil audiences also took note of his performance in Ajith’s Valimai.
More than two years have passed since his last lead role, and now Kartikeya is making his return with a project that carries added significance.
This time, he is not just the lead actor but also the director. Taking on directorial responsibilities marks a new chapter in his career and reflects his willingness to step into unfamiliar territory.
The film is being made under his own banner, Kartikeya Creative Works, with his wife Lohitha Reddy producing the project.
The glimpse opens with a reflective voiceover about a boxer who has been away from the ring for three years. People wonder whether he has left the sport for good, while the protagonist himself appears to be confronting questions about what comes next after such a long break.
His return is presented as a risky and almost reckless move, with the character described as being on a “suicidal mission.”
Kartikeya is seen skipping rope with intense focus and throwing powerful punches, with the visuals highlighting sweat, discipline and determination.
The film appears to be a boxing drama driven more by personal stakes and emotion than by spectacle alone. It is expected to blend intense training sequences with a story of struggle, comeback and redemption.
