Akkineni Nagarjuna appears to be banking once again on the Sankranthi season, a festive window that previously delivered one of the biggest solo hits of his later career with Soggade Chinni Nayana.
Since then, the actor has largely appeared in multistarrers, experimental projects, action films that underperformed, or supporting and antagonist roles.
Now, all eyes are on his landmark 100th film, tentatively referred to as King100.
The project is being directed by Tamil filmmaker Ra Karthik, although Nagarjuna has not officially announced the film yet.
Despite the silence, shooting is already underway, with actors like Tabu and Sushmita Bhat reportedly participating alongside Nagarjuna.
Initially, Nagarjuna was said to be planning an August 2026 release for the film, while reserving Sankranthi 2027 for another family entertainer in the Soggade Chinni Nayana and Bangarraju universe.
However, industry buzz now suggests that the plans may have changed.
Nagarjuna is reportedly considering shifting King100 itself to the lucrative Sankranthi 2027 slot, hoping the festive season sentiment works in his favour once again.
Given Nagarjuna’s long association with family entertainers and Sankranthi successes, the move could prove strategically significant for his milestone 100th film.
