After reportedly failing to get a positive response from the Congress high command over her position in the Revanth Reddy cabinet, Telangana Endowments and Forests Minister Konda Surekha is learnt to have decided to quit both the party and her ministerial post.
Along with Surekha, her husband Konda Murali and daughter Konda Sushmita are also expected to leave the Congress.
The family is likely to address a press conference on Thursday evening and announce its future course of action.
It was only on Wednesday that Surekha declared that she would not resign from the cabinet and challenged the high command to take action against her if it wanted to act under pressure from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
She also launched a sharp attack on the Chief Minister and other party leaders.
However, after returning to Hyderabad, Surekha reportedly held discussions with her family members and well-wishers and decided that it would be better to resign from the cabinet and the party on her own rather than face possible expulsion.
Initially, there was speculation that Surekha would wait for the Congress leadership to announce its decision before revealing her next move.
However, it now appears that she may not wait for any disciplinary action and could instead announce her political stand independently.
