“Drishyam 3” is one of the most-awaited sequels for Malayalam cinema audiences.
The “Drishyam” franchise has emerged as a massive success story for Mohanlal, with both earlier installments becoming blockbuster hits in Kerala.
The franchise also enjoyed strong popularity in Telugu and Hindi, with Venkatesh reprising Mohanlal’s role in the Telugu remakes.
However, Venkatesh has reportedly decided not to remake the third installment. As a result, Mohanlal’s team is releasing the Malayalam version in Telugu through dubbing.
Surprisingly, there has been very little promotional activity for the Telugu release. The makers have not conducted even a single press meet or major publicity event ahead of the release on May 21.
Trade circles say the advance bookings in Hyderabad multiplexes remain extremely low, with only a small percentage of seats sold so far.
Despite the muted response before release, Mohanlal and the team are said to be banking on strong word of mouth to drive audiences to theaters.
With no major Telugu releases competing this week, they are hopeful the film can gradually gain momentum after its opening day.
