Vishwanath and Sons was originally made in Tamil and later dubbed into Telugu. Director Venky Atluri has clarified that the team did not shoot the film separately in both languages.
Despite limited promotions in the Telugu market, the film has delivered surprisingly strong numbers, with the Telugu version emerging as the bigger contributor in North America.
The film has grossed around $1.5 million in its opening weekend in North America, marking Suriya’s biggest opening weekend in the territory.
His previous best, 24, grossed around $1.6 million during its entire theatrical run. With Vishwanath and Sons already reaching around $1.5 million in its first weekend, the film is now well placed to cross the $2 million mark.
Directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Naga Vamsi, the family entertainer stars Mamitha Baiju opposite Suriya.
The Telugu version alone has contributed around $900K and is expected to cross the $1 million mark in the coming days.
