The much-awaited film Peddi has generated significant buzz in the trade, with strong sales of its distribution rights in key Telugu regions.
According to the latest updates, the Nizam rights have been sold for Rs 63 crore, while Andhra has fetched a higher Rs 75 crore. Rayalaseema has added another Rs 25 crore to the tally.
This impressive territorial business, amounting to Rs 163 crore including GST from these three major regions, highlights strong producer confidence and huge distributor enthusiasm for the project.
The biggest challenge now is to estimate Peddi’s potential in Bollywood. Hindi cinema offers wider national reach, but the performance of South films in the Hindi belt remains unpredictable.
Much will depend on the film’s marketing in Bollywood circles and its ability to pull audiences to theatres there, which will ultimately determine its pan-India box office potential.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi stars Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. The film is all set to release on June 4.
