Veteran actor Rajinikanth addressed several political rumours and criticisms during a recent interaction.
He clarified his stand on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and also spoke about his friendship with M K Stalin.
Responding to criticism about his equation with Vijay, Rajinikanth said some people were making unnecessary comments about him.
“Some are saying I am jealous of Chief Minister Vijay,” he said.
Dismissing such claims, Rajinikanth made it clear that he had no reason to feel jealous of Vijay.
“I am not jealous of our Chief Minister Vijay. When I am not in politics, why should I be jealous?” he asked.
Rajinikanth also pointed out the age gap between him and Vijay.
“I am 25 years older than Vijay. There is a generation gap,” he said.
Expressing goodwill toward Vijay, Rajinikanth added, “There is no reason for me to be jealous of him. I am happy for him. People have many expectations from Vijay. I wish him all good luck from my side.”
Rajinikanth also addressed criticism over his meeting with M K Stalin after the election results.
“After the election results, I went and met M K Stalin, and that became a subject of criticism. Our friendship is beyond politics,” he said.
Referring to Stalin’s defeat in Kolathur, Rajinikanth said he felt saddened by it.
The actor also reacted strongly to criticism directed at him, saying, “Rajini is not a cheap or low-standard person to speak unnecessarily about anything.”
Rajinikanth also made a notable remark about the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
“I would have won if I had contested in 2021,” he said.
