Sundeep Kishan’s bilingual heist adventure Sigma, directed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay, is gearing up for a theatrical release on October 2.
Produced by Lyca Productions, the film will be released in Coastal Andhra and Telangana, while NVR Cinema will handle the Ceded region.
Sigma marks Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut. He wanted to explore every aspect of filmmaking and consciously chose to make the film as a bilingual so that the story could connect equally with audiences across languages.
“Sigma has several interesting elements like a heist, adventure and a treasure hunt. At the same time, it is a very relatable and commercial film. The audience will have a fun ride watching it in theatres,” Sanjay said.
Sanjay also spoke about his admiration for Telugu cinema, naming Maryada Ramanna and Khaleja among his favourites. He further revealed that he liked Sundeep Kishan’s Bhairava Kona and became a fan of the actor after watching Michael.
He also revealed the quality he wants to imbibe from his father. “Punctuality is the one quality I want to learn from my father,” he said.
Sanjay said he was extremely happy when his father became Chief Minister and added that his immediate focus is on the release of Sigma. However, he may consider acting after the film’s release.
Sundeep Kishan showered praise on the debutant director and said Sigma belongs as much to Sanjay as it does to him.
“I am very proud to introduce Sanjay to Telugu cinema and Telugu audiences. I have travelled with him for the last two years. It is remarkable to see someone from Gen Z being so genuine. He made this movie with a lot of honesty,” Sundeep said.
Sundeep also described Sigma as a film that could be viewed as both a straight Telugu and a straight Tamil film.
“Sanjay is a big fan of Telugu cinema. He could have chosen another actor, including someone from Tamil cinema. But probably, he felt that I was the right choice for this story. Sanjay travelled to Hyderabad and narrated the script to me for nearly three-and-a-half hours. He made the movie as a jolly Gen Z film,” he said.
He further praised Sanjay for completing the film ahead of schedule.
“He told the producers that he would complete the movie in 70 days, but he finished it in just 63 days. That is why I feel proud of him,” Sundeep added.
