The Pongal/Sankranthi 2027 season is already shaping up to be one of the most competitive festival windows in recent years, and actor Suriya is the latest star to join the race.
Several films have already announced their plans to arrive during the festive season.
A multi-starrer featuring Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram is targeting Sankranthi 2027, while Sharwanand has also locked the same holiday window for one of his upcoming projects.
Balakrishna is reportedly planning to bring his film with Gopichand Malineni for the festival season as well.
Now, Suriya’s 47th film, directed by Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, is also being planned for a Pongal 2027 release. The project is currently under production.
Meanwhile, Suriya is riding high on the success of Karuppu.
Before the Pongal release, he is expected to bring Vishwanath And Sons, his Telugu-Tamil bilingual directed by Venky Atluri, to theatres around July or August.
With more than a year still left for the festival season, the Pongal/Sankranthi 2027 box-office battle is only getting bigger.
Industry watchers expect several more major projects to enter the race in the coming months.
