Satya has emerged as one of the most sought-after comedians in Telugu cinema in recent years, featuring in a wide range of films and enjoying a strong phase in his career.
At a time when his comedy track was going strong, Satya decided to take the next step by turning lead actor. He made his debut as a hero with “Jetlee,” directed by Ritesh Rana.
However, the film, which released last weekend, has failed to make an impact at the box office, with opening weekend collections indicating poor audience turnout.
“Jetlee” has turned out to be a major disappointment, reinforcing a long-standing trend in Telugu cinema where comedians struggle to succeed as solo leads.
With this, Satya joins the list of comedians like Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, Saptagiri and Prudhvi Raj, who attempted lead roles but couldn’t replicate their success outside comedy.
Following this setback, Satya is expected to shift his focus back to his strengths as a comedian.
