The student protest that began in Delhi over the NEET paper leak is receiving support from different sections of society.
Political leaders, film personalities, sportspersons and other celebrities are coming forward one after another to support the students. Several well-known figures have also demanded accountability from the government over the examination irregularities.
Now, popular Telugu director Sekhar Kammula has expressed his support for the Gen Z movement.
Taking to social media, the filmmaker shared an emotional message and said the students’ demands were completely justified.
Sekhar Kammula said the Education Minister should resign by taking responsibility for the NEET paper leak. He also demanded compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide because of the crisis.
He said the government must give a strong assurance that such incidents will not happen again.
“These are basic things that any government should do even without being asked,” he wrote.
The director questioned why lakhs of students were being forced to face police lathis and suffer injuries just to achieve such simple and reasonable demands.
He said the students were protesting day and night without proper food or rest and were courageously facing police action.
“The students are asking for accountability. There is justice in their demand. The government must listen to them, reassure them and allow their spirit to win,” he said.
Sekhar Kammula’s emotional words touched many social media users.
“If our children win, the country wins. If our children win, it means we have truly lived. In fact, when people win, governments also win,” he wrote.
Addressing the protesting youth directly, he added, “Dear Gen Z, I bow before you for the struggle you are carrying forward. I salute you.”
His statement that the victory of the students would be a victory for the entire country has received widespread appreciation online.
Many netizens said Sekhar Kammula’s heartfelt message reflected the emotions of parents and ordinary citizens across the country.
