Senior actress Shabana Azmi fell ill while attending the CJP protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday.
She had arrived at the protest site to support students and activists demanding action over alleged examination irregularities. A video from the venue showed people rushing to help her after she suddenly felt unwell.
Volunteers and others present at the protest immediately came to her assistance. She received medical attention at the venue before being moved to a safer place to rest.
Her condition later stabilised, bringing relief to supporters who had expressed concern over her health.
Shabana has been actively supporting the CJP movement in recent days. She had earlier appealed to activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike due to his deteriorating health.
Her husband, lyricist Javed Akhtar, had also written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the issues raised by the protesters.
The CJP protest has received support from several actors, writers and public figures.
The protesters continue to demand accountability over alleged examination irregularities and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Despite the brief health scare, Shabana’s presence at the protest highlighted her continued support for the movement.
