Karuppu has had a strong first week at the Indian box office and is continuing its momentum in the second weekend as well.
From day one, the film has been setting new records for Suriya, and it has now ended the actor’s long dry spell by emerging as a clean success.
The Tamil fantasy action drama reportedly recovered its entire budget through domestic net collections by day nine.
On its second Saturday, Karuppu collected around Rs 12.2 crore, showing a strong jump from its day-eight figure of Rs 7.8 crore.
According to Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs 133.85 crore net at the Indian box office so far, which equals around Rs 157.94 crore gross.
Going by the present momentum, the film is expected to enjoy a long theatrical run. Trade circles believe Karuppu has a strong chance of entering the Rs 200 crore net club in India.
After crossing the Rs 100 crore mark for the first time in his career, Suriya may now be heading towards another major milestone.
Suriya had been going through a rough phase at the box office for a long time. With Karuppu, he has finally delivered his first successful film after nearly 10 years.
His last successful film was Pasanga 2, which released in 2015.
The success of Karuppu has also come at the right time for Kollywood, which had been waiting for a big money-spinner in 2026.
The film’s performance has brought fresh energy to the Tamil film industry and given Suriya the much-needed comeback he was waiting for.
