Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has remained one of the most talked-about political leaders in recent times. Apart from his political decisions and official programmes, his candid moments often attract attention on social media.
His latest viral moment came during a meeting with Pham Sanh Chau, who oversees VinFast’s operations in Asia. During the meeting, the VinFast representative presented Vijay with a miniature model of one of the company’s electric vehicles.
Instead of simply accepting the souvenir, Vijay was seen carefully examining and holding the tiny car with visible excitement.
The video quickly went viral, with fans praising his simplicity. Several social media users described his reaction as “cute” and “childlike.”
The miniature vehicle, widely described online as a “toy car,” was a scale model of the VinFast VF 8, an electric SUV sold by the Vietnamese automobile company in international markets.
The model appeared to represent an earlier version of the VF 8, which continues to be available in some global markets. The company has also introduced an updated version with changes to its exterior design and specifications.
The newer VF 8 reportedly comes with a 60.13 kWh battery connected to a front-mounted electric motor. It produces around 228 hp and 330 Nm of torque.
According to the company’s claims, the electric SUV offers a driving range of up to 500 km under the NEDC testing standard. It can reportedly be charged from 10 per cent to 70 per cent in less than 30 minutes.
Interestingly, the previous-generation VF 8 had a larger 87.7 kWh battery and was offered in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions.
The front-wheel-drive version produced around 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. Although it was less powerful than the newer version, it offered a claimed NEDC range of around 562 km.
However, it was Vijay’s warm and playful reaction to the miniature car, rather than the vehicle’s technical details, that captured the attention of social media users.
