The Iranian Embassy in Hyderabad has joined the online buzz after Iran’s mission in Zimbabwe used a clip from Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari to mock US President Donald Trump.
The controversy began after the Zimbabwe mission shared an action scene from the Telugu film while responding to Trump’s remarks on Iran.
The embassy, however, mistakenly referred to the clip as being from a Bollywood movie, apparently because the version used carried Hindi dialogues.
Now, the Iranian Embassy in Hyderabad has shared the same video on X, this time correctly identifying the Telugu connection.
In its post, the mission said that Bhagavanth Kesari shows how enemies can be confronted even without firing bullets and added a swipe at Trump by saying the character does not rely on threats.
The caption also declared: “Telugu movies are GOAT.”
The exchange began after Trump, while addressing the United Nations, spoke about Iran and presented what he described as a choice between negotiation and annihilation.
In response, Iran’s embassy in Zimbabwe posted the Balakrishna clip, featuring a high-voltage action sequence with heavy firepower, apparently to convey that Iran should not be seen as defenceless.
The social media post quickly went viral, especially among Telugu cinema fans, who were amused by the unexpected appearance of Balakrishna in an international political exchange.
The Hyderabad mission’s follow-up has only added to the buzz, with Balakrishna now becoming an unlikely talking point in the middle of the escalating US-Iran rhetoric.
For Balayya fans, the episode has turned into a moment of celebration, with many enjoying the fact that a Telugu mass-action scene has suddenly found its way into global political messaging.
