Dhanush has been releasing films in Telugu regularly, but most of them have failed to create any significant impact at the box office.
The actor also appears to have reduced his promotional efforts in the Telugu market.
Typically, he attends just one promotional event before moving on, while producers releasing his dubbed films in Telugu also keep the publicity minimal, leaving the films to depend entirely on audience response.
Only content-driven films have managed to perform decently, while the majority have ended up as flops or disasters.
Dhanush scored a notable hit in Telugu with “Sir,” directed by Venky Atluri. However, his second straight Telugu film, “Kuberaa,” ended up as only an average grosser, while its Tamil version failed to perform.
His dubbed films have fared even worse. Most of them have either flopped or ended as outright disasters.
His previous release, “Idly Kadai,” which was released in Telugu as “Idly Kottu,” failed badly at the box office. His latest film, “Kara,” has now turned into a complete washout, with the film neither registering decent openings nor showing any growth after release.
Dhanush’s situation in Tamil cinema is also far from ideal, as the actor has been struggling to deliver a major commercial success in his home market as well.
