Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash, was released on Wednesday. The film has received mostly negative reactions from critics and audiences.
Soon after its release, old interviews of Yash and Mohandas began trending online. Social media users shared the clips and used them to criticise the film.
In one old interview, Geetu Mohandas said she does not always follow her original script. She explained that the writing, shooting and editing can change during filmmaking.
Her comments have now attracted fresh attention. Some viewers are linking her earlier statements with the criticism the film is receiving today.
Yash also appeared in an older interview. He confidently predicted that audiences would leave the theatre shocked and ask, “What the hell was that?”
That statement has now become a viral joke. Despite the criticism, Toxic opened strongly at the box office. It reportedly earned Rs 101.10 crore net in India on its first day and Rs 140.75 crore worldwide.
