Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has received strong appreciation from several leading names in Kannada cinema.
Stars including Upendra, Kichcha Sudeepa and Rishab Shetty have praised the film’s ambition, unconventional approach and Yash’s performance.
Their reactions have particularly highlighted Yash’s willingness to move away from the familiar template of a larger-than-life commercial hero and step into a darker, more experimental space.
Upendra was among the prominent voices to praise the film.
“TOXIC IS A FAIRY TALE… BUT GROWN-UPS?? Watched Toxic. Wow! What a movie! A new world and an entirely new experience! The hard work, dedication and passion of every artist and technician are truly commendable. Hats off to Yash and the entire team!” he wrote.
Kichcha Sudeepa also praised Yash for choosing an unconventional path instead of making a predictable follow-up to his previous commercial blockbuster.
He said Toxic was an unusual and commendable attempt and appreciated Yash for having the conviction and courage to experiment. Sudeepa added that several portions of the film were intriguing and could lead to debate, discussion and learning.
Rishab Shetty, too, praised the conviction with which Yash portrayed his character.
He said that while the plot and central characters may not follow the usual path seen in mainstream cinema, that does not necessarily mean the approach is wrong.
Rishab also appreciated the effort involved in taking an idea from concept to screen and praised Yash for completely surrendering himself to a demanding character and world.
He added that the film attempts to show how guilt can grow and increase the toxicity in a person’s life, calling it a daring experiment.
Rishab further praised Yash for his efforts to take Kannada cinema to the global stage.
Meanwhile, Toxic has reportedly crossed Rs 112 crore net in the Hindi market in just four days, adding another major milestone to its theatrical run.
With prominent Kannada stars publicly backing the film’s experimental approach, Toxic has clearly succeeded in generating discussion beyond just its box office performance.
