The shooting of Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and directed by S S Rajamouli, is progressing at a fast pace.
Fans have been waiting for clarity on how much of the film has been completed, whether the visual effects work has started, and whether the movie will release on the announced date.
Rajamouli has now shared an important update in an exclusive interview with a European magazine.
According to the director, nearly 80 per cent of the shooting has already been completed.
“About 80 per cent of the film has been shot. The remaining 20 per cent is currently in progress. Most of the major scenes and action portions were completed in the first 80 per cent. Only a few smaller scenes are left,” Rajamouli said.
He also gave clarity about the film’s visual effects work.
Rajamouli revealed that editing and graphics work are being carried out along with the shooting. As soon as a scene is filmed, it is edited and sent to the visual effects department.
The director said all departments are working together to ensure that the film is completed without delays.
Rajamouli also revealed an interesting detail about the hero’s journey in the film.
The story reportedly begins in Varanasi. From there, the hero travels to Antarctica, Africa and ancient Rome before finally returning to Varanasi.
The director also said that the title glimpse did not reveal any major part of the story.
According to Rajamouli, the purpose of the glimpse was only to show audiences the scale and experience they could expect from the film.
Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra are playing the lead roles in Varanasi.
The film is scheduled to release on April 7 next year. Rajamouli has assured fans that the shooting is progressing without any major delay and that the film will arrive on the announced date.
