Celebrity astrologer Venu Swamy has sparked a fresh political debate by describing popular Tollywood actor Junior N T Rama Rao as a future chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, while calling Jana Sena Party chief and current Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan a “perfect politician”.
In an interview with a YouTube channel, Venu Swamy said that although Pawan Kalyan possesses the qualities of an ideal politician, his straightforward approach could limit his political success.
Referring to his earlier predictions, he recalled that even before the 2019 elections, he had said Pawan Kalyan would not become chief minister.
He also pointed to a video recorded two months before the 2024 Assembly elections in which he had expressed his desire to see Pawan defeat Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and become chief minister.
The astrologer also reiterated his long-standing prediction that Jr NTR would eventually enter politics and rise to the state’s top political office.
According to Venu Swamy, the actor’s birth under the Makha (Magha) star indicates exceptional political potential.
Drawing a comparison with former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, who was also born under the same star, he claimed that people born under this constellation often achieve remarkable political success.
Venu Swamy acknowledged that one of his earlier predictions — that Pawan Kalyan’s party would cease to exist by 2024 — had proved incorrect.
The astrologer also made several remarks about prominent political leaders and film personalities.
He described Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actor Prabhas as “destined personalities” and praised A Revanth Reddy as Telangana’s leading political figure.
He referred to Bharat Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrashekar Rao as the “father of Telangana” and lauded Chiranjeevi for achieving success through hard work.
He also praised Ram Charan for building his career through personal effort despite his family background and described N Chandrababu Naidu as an outstanding administrator.
Speaking about his own political future, Venu Swamy said he has a favourable horoscope for entering politics but has no immediate plans to do so.
He added that if the proposed delimitation exercise increases the number of Assembly constituencies, political opportunities could emerge for both him and his wife.
However, he clarified that he would prefer to play the role of a “kingmaker” rather than become a political leader himself.
