Fans eagerly waiting for the public release of the Ramayana trailer will have to wait a little longer.
The makers postponed the trailer launch shortly before its scheduled release after finalising a global distribution partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The trailer, which had already been screened for select members of the media and fans in Delhi, was expected to be released on July 24. It will now be unveiled at a later date as part of a coordinated worldwide campaign.
Makers Explain the Sudden Delay
Producer Namit Malhotra announced the development on social media and described the partnership as a major milestone for the film and Indian cinema.
He said his dream of taking Ramayana to audiences across the world had become a reality through the collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
“In light of this development, we will now launch the trailer globally at a later date,” he said.
Malhotra added that the partnership would allow Ramayana to be presented internationally on the scale of a major Hollywood production.
He said the film could become a proud moment in the history of Indian cinema by introducing global audiences to the richness of Indian culture and traditional stories.
The producer also thanked everyone who had supported the project and urged the younger generation to help build a stronger future.
A Massive Two-Part Epic
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being made as a two-part adaptation of the Hindu epic.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
The ensemble cast also includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor.
With Sony Pictures Entertainment now backing its global distribution, the makers are expected to relaunch the promotional campaign on a much larger international scale.
