Kannada star Yash’s Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, recently hit theatres to mixed and largely negative reviews.
Amid the ongoing discussion around the film, an old remark made by veteran producer Allu Aravind about Yash has resurfaced and gone viral on social media.
The renewed debate has now drawn a strong response from Yash’s mother, Pushpa.
The remark was originally made during a promotional event for Kotabommali PS, when Allu Aravind was discussing production budgets, star remunerations and the impact of scale on a film’s appeal.
At the event, he asked, “Who was Yash before KGF?”
The comment did not go down well with Yash’s fans, who felt that it undermined the actor’s stardom and achievements before the KGF franchise.
Responding to the remark, Pushpa pointed out that her son was already a leading star in Karnataka and had delivered several successful films even before KGF transformed him into a pan-India star.
She also spoke about Yash’s humble beginnings, stressing that his success was built through hard work, struggle and perseverance rather than privilege or family connections.
Pushpa questioned why people from established film families should feel threatened by a self-made actor, pointing out that her family had very little when Yash began his journey.
Standing firmly by her son, she said she was proud of what Yash had achieved through his own efforts.
She added that his journey from a struggling actor to one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema is proof of his determination, hard work and self-belief.
With Allu Aravind’s old remark resurfacing at a time when Toxic is under intense scrutiny, the debate around Yash’s pre-KGF career and his rise to national stardom has once again gained attention on social media.
