Zombie Reddy opened a new chapter for the zombie genre in Telugu cinema and emerged as a surprise box-office success.
The franchise is now returning on a bigger scale, with Teja Sajja reprising the lead role and Prasanth Varma coming on board as the creator. The film was announced on the occasion of Teja Sajja’s birthday.
This time, Suparn S. Varma, known for The Family Man 2, Rana Naidu and Haq, is directing the sequel. TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad are producing the film on a grand scale under the People Media Factory banner.
With Real Star Upendra and Shanaya Kapoor joining the cast, the makers have unveiled the title along with a glimpse that highlights the film’s bigger scale.
Interestingly, the glimpse unfolds in reverse.
It begins with a zombie falling from a flyover onto a truck, followed by the line, “Zombies are back.”
The sequence then rewinds to show the events leading up to the fall, including Teja’s character driving a car while being surrounded by attacking zombies.
The action eventually reaches the iconic Charminar, where Teja makes a striking appearance on top of a car, holding a bat and surrounded by a large group of zombies.
“This time, next level,” he says, leading into the title reveal — Zombie Reddy 2 NXT LVL.
The title logo, designed like a video-game joystick with a zombie hand, gives the franchise a playful and modern touch.
Teja Sajja returns in his familiar glasses-wearing young-man look, but the world around him appears much bigger, more chaotic and action-packed.
The sequel aims to take the franchise to a larger level with more action, scale and visual spectacle. The glimpse suggests that this outing will be bigger and more intense than the first film.
The technical team includes cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, production designer Banglam and editor Vijay Velukutty.
Gowra Hari, who previously worked with Teja Sajja on HanuMan and Mirai, is composing the music. His score blends Telangana folk elements with zombie-themed sounds, adding energy to the visuals.
Zombie Reddy 2 NXT LVL – Dead Or Alive is scheduled for a 2027 release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Nepali and Japanese.
