Akkineni Nageswara Rao is the senior-most actor in the industry. He has been in the industry for more than six decades. He has seen the film industry from almost its initial stages.

ANR is known to share his fond memories of what everyone refers to as the golden years. ANR is a regular at many film and cultural functions where he often goes down memory lane and reveals interesting anecdotes and other incidents.

The professional rivalry between ANR and NTR is too well known to bear repetition. The two are unique in their own respects but NTR definitely had an upper hand.

ANR said at a function recently that it was he who was initially chosen for playing the lead roles in Patala Bhairavi and Malleswari. It was only after he rejected the offers had gone to NTR.

What ANR was implying is that if he had not rejected the role, NTR would not have got a chance at all and he would not have become famous. We don’t   know the real truth and there is no way of knowing it either. NTR, BN Reddy, Bhanumathi and Malathi are all no more. So we have to take ANR’s word for it. That is the advantage ANR is getting now. He can manipulate many historical facts. There is no one to question him.
