G Vara Lakshmi was the old actress who acted in many films as a character artiste. She acted as Prahladha (child role) in 1942. Vemuri Gaggayay was the Hiranyakasapa. That was the second version of Bhakta Prahlada made after 1931 version. She was just 11 years by then and was very mischievous. She climbed a tree and sat there without coming down to participate in the shooting. When the unit members went there to please her and bring down, she climbed still high. Then a unit member asked her if she comes down or should he come up to push her down. Then she replied, “You may push me from top. But nothing happens to me as Lord Vishnu saves me. I’m in Prahlada’s dress now. So, there is no danger for me”.
Listening to her innocent reply, the unit members laughed. After sometime, she came down followed by many pampering words from entire unit. That was the fun that happened about 65 years ago.
But her words on tree made the producer and director happy as they thought that she is completely involved in the character of Prahlada.
