Nostalgia: S Janaki Gave First Blessing To SP Balu

“That was in 1961 when I was doing my engineering in Madras. There was anniversary function at Gudur Sree Kalidasa Kalanikethan. I have participated in songs competition for which S Janaki was the Chief Guest. My friend got first prize in the competition. I stood in second place. Then S Janaki garu said in her speech, “I don’t want to put down others but the first prize would have come for SP Balasubrahmanyam”.
 
Quoting that, Balu said “That was a big relief for me with the words of Janaki despite losing first position. She asked me if I can come into films. That was the first seed in my career. I got ignition to try getting into films. It was Kodandapani garu who lifted me later. But S Janaki was my first ignition”, shared Balu.
 
SP Balu carries huge respect on S Janaki and he saluted to her feet man times on dais.
