S V Ranga Rao was a strong and sturdy man. His height, coupled with big moustaches and fiery red eyes made him look like a sort of a big bully. His presence on the sets was enough to send shivers down the spine of the unit members and other co-artists.
Even when he moved out on the streets, people gave him side and no one dared to look straight into his eyes. He commanded both fear and respect from everyone.
SV Ranga Rao was undoubtedly one of the most talented artists of his generation. He carried this image of a tough and fearless person. He was almost like a tiger in public.
However, at home, the scene was completely different. He was completely subdued and calm. His wife was of a nagging type. She always bullied him and he was one of the most hen-pecked husbands ever known. He was afraid of the acid and acerbic tongue of his wife and used to remain very calm and silent at home. People used to say that he is ‘Intlo Pilli, Bayata Puli’.
