Andhra Pradesh Minister T.G. Bharath on Monday expressed concern over the law and order situation in Kurnool district and questioned the police response to recent incidents.
Speaking to the media, Bharath said rowdy elements were creating trouble in Kurnool city and that even minor disputes were allegedly leading to murders.
He was referring to the recent killing of TDP worker Intiyaz Basha, an incident that created tension in the region.
Bharath questioned why the police had failed to act despite social media posts reportedly appearing nearly a week before the murder, warning about a possible threat to Intiyaz.
He asked why there was no timely response from the police and why the intelligence system had failed to pick up the warning signs.
The minister also alleged that while police appeared to be closely monitoring public representatives, including ministers and MLAs, they were not showing the same alertness in tracking anti-social elements and their activities.
Bharath said the police should focus more on preventing crime and taking action against rowdy elements before such incidents turn serious.
