In a major decision, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to scale down the party’s prestigious annual conclave, Mahanadu, and conduct it in a hybrid format instead of holding a large-scale three-day physical event in Nellore, as part of the austerity measures being practised both at the Centre and in the state.
According to party sources, the TDP high command has resolved to organise Mahanadu on May 27 and 28 at the party’s central office in Mangalagiri, replacing the earlier proposal to hold an expansive three-day session in Nellore district.
Party sources said Naidu took the decision as part of the austerity measures and expenditure rationalisation being implemented by both the Union and Andhra Pradesh governments amid continuing financial pressures.
By opting for a compact and technology-driven format, the party leadership appears keen on sending a message of financial discipline and administrative prudence.
Under the revised arrangements, Mahanadu will be conducted in hybrid mode, combining limited physical participation at the party headquarters with extensive virtual participation from across the state.
Senior party functionaries, including members of the Politburo, Central Committee, State Committee and official spokespersons, will attend the sessions physically at the Mangalagiri headquarters.
At the same time, legislators, ministers, Members of Parliament, party leaders and cadres from various constituencies will participate through online platforms.
The party has also made elaborate digital arrangements to facilitate the participation of leaders and workers from all 1,848 cluster units across Andhra Pradesh.
Cadres will join the proceedings online from their respective cluster centres, ensuring statewide engagement while avoiding expenditure on mass travel, accommodation and large public mobilisation.
Despite the scaled-down format, the TDP leadership has decided to retain the traditional structure and procedural framework of Mahanadu.
Party sources said all key resolutions, policy discussions and organisational deliberations would be conducted in accordance with established Mahanadu conventions, though through a hybrid mechanism.
