YSR Congress Party sympathiser and Republican Party of India leader Borugadda Anil Kumar created a ruckus outside the residence-cum-party office of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in Tadepalli after he was denied permission to meet the party chief.
Anil Kumar, accompanied by his wife, arrived at the YSRCP headquarters seeking an audience with Jagan. When security personnel refused to allow him inside, he engaged in a heated argument with them, leading to tense scenes outside the premises.
According to reports, security personnel informed the party leadership about his arrival but were instructed not to grant him entry.
Borugadda had previously faced allegations of extortion and blackmail, allegedly carried out in the name of Jagan Mohan Reddy during the latter’s tenure as chief minister.
The YSRCP leadership had earlier publicly distanced itself from him, stating that the party had no association with him, despite his claims that he was close to its senior leaders.
Following the denial of entry, Anil Kumar openly criticised senior YSRCP leaders, particularly party state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, accusing them of preventing him from meeting Jagan.
He also released an audio recording of an earlier phone conversation with a YSRCP leader, alleging that party functionaries had branded him a “rowdy-sheeter” to block his access to the party leadership.
Rejecting the allegation, Anil Kumar claimed that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had previously clarified that he was not a rowdy-sheeter. He demanded that Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy publicly apologise to him and his family for claiming that he did not know who Anil Kumar was.
He further demanded that Karmuri Venkata Reddy, whom he accused of calling him a rowdy-sheeter, be expelled from the party. He also levelled allegations against another party functionary, Pudi Srihari, accusing him of conspiring against him.
Claiming that he had worked for the YSRCP for nearly a decade, Anil Kumar said he had spent nine months in jail and was facing 22 criminal cases. He asserted that he was willing to sacrifice his life for the party.
He also alleged that his bank accounts had been frozen, his software companies had been shut down and his repeated attempts to contact Jagan’s personal assistant had gone unanswered.
Expressing emotional distress, Anil Kumar said repeated references to him as a rowdy-sheeter by members of the party had caused severe mental anguish to his family, particularly his sister.
