Ex-CBI Chief Attacks Nara Brahmani for Praising Naidu

Retired IPS officer and former Central Bureau of Investigation director M Nageswara Rao, who has been active on social media questioning both the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh, has now targeted Naidu’s daughter-in-law, Nara Brahmani.

In a post on X, Nageswara Rao launched a sharp attack on Brahmani for praising her father-in-law while recalling what she described as the “dark days” of his arrest in the Andhra Pradesh skill development case during the previous YSR Congress Party regime.

Brahmani had posted that she lit 53 candles at her Hyderabad residence while raising the slogan “Nijam Gelichindi” (Truth Has Won), recalling Naidu’s arrest in what she described as an illegal case three years ago and his 53-day detention.

Responding sarcastically, Nageswara Rao questioned whether Brahmani could read Telugu and said her post had “brilliantly produced equal measures of satire and humour.”

He then made three major allegations against Naidu.

First, Nageswara Rao alleged that Naidu, who began his political career in the 1970s with either two or 22 acres of land, had eventually become one of the country’s wealthiest Chief Ministers.

He sarcastically described Naidu as a “selfless” politician while accusing him of corruption and bringing disrepute to the Telugu people.

Second, Nageswara Rao referred to the political history of the TDP and its founder, the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR).

He alleged that NTR, who founded the party in the name of Telugu self-respect and worked relentlessly for the cause, was betrayed by Naidu.

He further alleged that Naidu was responsible for NTR’s premature death and used strong language to accuse him of betraying Telugu interests while claiming to have brought global recognition to the Telugu community.

Third, Nageswara Rao alleged that Naidu had not only taken control of the TDP from NTR but had also agreed in writing in 2008 to the division of the Telugu-speaking population and the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh.

He described this as a betrayal of the interests of the Telugu people.

The retired IPS officer said these three points were enough to respond to what he called Brahmani’s “creative” and “imaginary anguish,” while sarcastically asking whether she wanted more examples.

The remarks have added a fresh political dimension to the social media debate surrounding Naidu’s arrest and the continuing political narratives around his tenure and legacy.
