The Special Investigation Team and the Andhra Pradesh Prohibition and Excise Department filed the final chargesheet in the fake liquor case before a local court in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
According to sources, the chargesheet, running into nearly 1,300 pages, has named 25 accused persons in connection with the case, including senior YSR Congress Party leader and former minister Jogi Ramesh.
The SIT has also listed 89 individuals as witnesses as part of the prosecution’s evidence.
During the investigation, the SIT identified A-1 Addepalli Janardhan Rao as the key person allegedly involved in the manufacture and distribution of adulterated liquor. Investigators stated that he played a central role in organising the illegal operations linked to the fake liquor network.
The chargesheet further stated that the illicit liquor manufacturing activities were allegedly carried out with the support of Jogi Ramesh.
The SIT alleged that both Janardhan Rao and Jogi Ramesh benefited financially from the fake liquor operations.
As part of the investigation, the SIT submitted multiple witness statements and documentary evidence related to financial transactions before the court.
Officials said the evidence collected during the probe established links between the accused and the alleged illegal liquor trade.
Once the court takes the chargesheet into cognisance, the trial in the case will begin, sources added.
