YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that he plans to begin his proposed statewide Padayatra in September or October 2027.
Addressing a meeting of party workers from the Parchur Assembly constituency, Jagan provided clarity on the timeline for the mass-contact programme.
The Padayatra is expected to involve extensive interaction with people across Andhra Pradesh and is being seen as an important political outreach programme for the YSRCP.
Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party has demanded the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh and sought an impartial CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities in the DSC 2025 teacher recruitment process.
Addressing separate press conferences, YSRCP official spokesperson Konda Rajiv Gandhi and former MP Margani Bharath said Lokesh should step down to facilitate what they described as a free and fair investigation by a central agency.
They alleged that several irregularities had surfaced in the recruitment process, including the use of fake BC and sports-quota certificates.
The YSRCP leaders also claimed that members of the same families had secured jobs using participation certificates and alleged that teacher posts were effectively being sold.
They maintained that evidence had emerged to support their allegations and accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of attempting to shield Lokesh.
The leaders also alleged that the coalition government was filing cases against social-media activists, unemployed youth and journalists who were questioning the DSC recruitment process.
They questioned why action was not being taken against those who allegedly secured jobs using fake documents.
The YSRCP leaders further alleged that some candidates were appointed without clearing the mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test examination, and said this raised serious questions about the manner in which the DSC recruitment process was conducted.
