Vijayawada MP Kesineni Shivanath, alias Chinni, has dismissed reports circulating on social media that his son, Kesineni Venkat, is preparing to enter electoral politics and may contest the upcoming local body elections.
Speculation over Venkat’s political entry had intensified over the past few days, with several social media posts claiming that he was being considered for the Vijayawada Mayor’s post. Some posts even projected him as a potential “Gen Z” face who could bring a fresh approach to the city’s civic administration.
Responding to the reports, Kesineni Chinni categorically stated that the claims were completely baseless. He said Venkat is currently focused on his business activities and has no plans to enter active politics.
The MP appealed to people not to believe what he described as unfounded reports regarding his son’s political future.
The speculation gained traction after a social media post claimed that “Gen Z” politics was set to enter the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, projecting “Kesineni Venkat Babu’s vision and mission” as a possible blueprint for the city.
The post claimed that Venkat was being positioned as a representative of the younger generation and would seek to voice the aspirations of Vijayawada’s youth on political and administrative platforms.
The purported agenda attributed to him included transforming Vijayawada into a technology-driven “smart city” based on international standards. It also spoke of creating IT and startup opportunities for local youth, setting up skill-development centres and developing sports facilities to international standards.
Other proposals mentioned in the social media campaign included strengthening underground drainage, introducing modern sanitation management, improving urban transportation and preparing a roadmap for canal-front development.
The posts also sought to project Venkat as someone who could bring speed and transparency to civic administration while moving away from conventional political practices.
However, Kesineni Chinni’s clarification has put an immediate question mark over these claims.
He reiterated that his son remains focused on business and is not involved in active politics.
