Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who heads the 44-year-old Telugu Desam Party, seems to be following the model adopted by his arch-rival, YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, in making organisational changes in his party.
Naidu, who recently appointed new party committees, has now named regional coordinators on the lines of the YSR Congress Party and assigned them the responsibility of coordinating party affairs in parliamentary constituencies.
The TDP has appointed four MLAs, one MLC and several senior leaders as regional coordinators to supervise party affairs across parliamentary constituencies.
Party sources said this is the first time that the TDP has introduced the system of regional coordinators.
Their primary responsibilities include monitoring grassroots political developments, coordinating with local leaders and acting as a bridge between the party high command and the cadre at the field level.
According to an announcement made by TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, Cheepurupalli MLA Bendalam Ashok has been assigned responsibility for the Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituencies.
Sujay Krishna Rangarao will oversee Kakinada and Amalapuram.
Senior TDP leader Mantena Venkata Satyanarayana Raju has been entrusted with Chittoor, Rajampet and Tirupati parliamentary segments.
Tanuku MLA Arimilli Radhakrishna has been given charge of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Araku constituencies.
Chilakaluripet MLA Prattipati Pullarao has been appointed coordinator for Narasapuram, Eluru and Rajahmundry parliamentary constituencies, while Gopalapuram MLA Maddipati Venkataraju will supervise Nellore and Ongole.
Senior Nellore district leader Pellakuru Srinivasulu Reddy has been assigned Kurnool, Nandyal and Kadapa parliamentary constituencies.
TDP leader Damacharla Satya will oversee Anantapur and Hindupur segments.
Senior Kadapa district leader Reddappagari Srinivasa Reddy has been entrusted with Krishna, Guntur and NTR districts, while TDP MLC B T Naidu has been appointed coordinator for Bapatla and Narasaraopet parliamentary constituencies.
The latest appointments come shortly after the TDP restructured its party committees and expanded its politburo.
The leadership has given opportunities to new faces, including grassroots workers, while also balancing representation between young leaders and senior party veterans.
Analysts say the move is part of Naidu’s broader strategy to strengthen the party organisation well ahead of future electoral battles and ensure better coordination within the NDA alliance structure in Andhra Pradesh.
