Senior actor Prakash Raj, who has launched a campaign highlighting alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, has made a sensational allegation that the election process in Andhra Pradesh in 2024 was manipulated.
Prakash Raj stepped up his criticism of the SIR, calling for the process to be scrapped and questioning the deletion of voters’ names.
He said he was studying the electoral process in Andhra Pradesh and would speak about his findings within two weeks.
He alleged that governments were being changed through what he described as improper electoral practices and claimed that the Election Commission had been “caught red-handed.”
Prakash Raj also questioned the silence of the BJP’s alliance partners over the controversy surrounding electoral rolls.
Referring to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Jana Sena Party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he asked why they were not speaking out if voters who supported their parties were being removed from the rolls.
He questioned why political leaders remained silent when, according to his allegation, the names of people who had voted for them were being deleted.
Prakash Raj alleged that the SIR exercise was disproportionately affecting Dalits and Muslims and demanded that the names of voters removed from the electoral rolls be restored.
He claimed that around 13 crore voters had been removed across the country and demanded restoration of the earlier electoral rolls. The figures and allegations cited by Prakash Raj could not be independently verified from the information provided.
Prakash Raj alleged that people were reporting that their names had been deleted from electoral rolls despite being alive and residing at the same addresses for years.
He also alleged that lists of voters to be retained or removed were being influenced by political considerations and claimed that voters perceived to be sympathetic to the BJP were being retained.
He questioned the Centre’s handling of the issue of illegal immigration, asking what action the Union Home Ministry had taken if illegal immigrants were indeed present in the country.
