Former YSRCP leader and ex-Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy, who is preparing for a political comeback and expected to launch a new party, appears to be starting a public outreach programme similar to an “Odarpu Yatra.”
Sai Reddy is expected to announce his new political outfit by the end of this month, leading to speculation over its agenda, target voters and political strategy.
As part of his outreach, Sai Reddy announced that he would visit Rajahmundry to meet the family of Panchayat Raj department Assistant Engineer Nookaraju, who recently died after jumping into the Godavari.
In a social media post, the former MP said he would also visit the house of 10-year-old Riansh Reddy, who, according to his account, lost his mother Soujanya, father Jagadish Reddy and grandparents.
Sai Reddy said he wanted to extend support to the child and the family.
The visit comes amid controversy over the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Police have registered a case against gym trainer Sadiq Khan and arrested him in connection with allegations involving religious conversion.
Sai Reddy has alleged that pressure to convert to another religion played a role in the deaths and described the incident as a case of “love jihad.”
His decision to personally visit the family is now being seen in political circles as an attempt to bring greater attention to the issue.
The timing is also significant because Sai Reddy is preparing to launch a new political party.
Political observers believe his emerging platform could focus on issues that are also part of the BJP’s broader political narrative, including religious conversion, while at the same time trying to attract sections of the Reddy community that have traditionally supported the YSRCP.
This two-sided political positioning is now being closely watched as Sai Reddy prepares to formally announce his new party.
For now, his proposed visit and recent statements are being seen as early signs of the political direction he may take in his comeback.
