The Telugu Desam Party on Thursday clarified that the suspension of Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam is still in force and has not been revoked.
Dismissing reports circulating in political circles and on social media that Adimulam’s suspension had been withdrawn and that he had resumed participating in party activities in the constituency, TDP Tirupati district president and former Union minister Panabaka Lakshmi said no such decision had been taken.
Panabaka Lakshmi said the party high command had not lifted Adimulam’s suspension and reiterated that all official party activities in the Satyavedu Assembly constituency would continue under the leadership of constituency coordinator Kurapati Shankar Reddy, who was appointed by the party leadership.
She said Shankar Reddy would oversee all organisational affairs, including coordination with party leaders and workers and supervision of development-related programmes in the constituency.
“Party cadre, including cluster in-charges, unit in-charges, nominated post-holders and grassroots workers, have been instructed to work under his leadership and strengthen the party organisation,” she said.
Panabaka Lakshmi urged party workers not to believe rumours or misinformation being spread on social media or by rival political parties, asserting that there was no ambiguity over the party’s official stand.
She also alleged that certain “covert” elements who had entered the TDP from the YSR Congress Party were attempting to create confusion through diversionary politics. She warned that the party would identify such individuals and initiate action against them.
According to the TDP leadership, while Adimulam is free to continue discharging his constitutional responsibilities as an MLA, organisational control of the Satyavedu constituency will remain with Shankar Reddy as long as the suspension remains in force.
The clarification comes months after the TDP suspended Koneti Adimulam following allegations involving a woman, prompting the party to initiate disciplinary action against him.
