Even as the sexcapade of Jana Sena Party MLA from Railway Koduru constituency Arava Sridhar is still fresh in the memory of the people, yet another Jana Sena Party leader from West Godavari district is facing allegations of sexually harassing a minor girl.
According to reports in a section of media, the girl alleged that her mother pressured her to stay with a man with whom she was allegedly having an extramarital relationship.
The victim further alleged that the man, identified as former sarpanch and Jana Sena Party leader Tirumani Venkataraju, threatened her by claiming that nobody could act against him because of his political influence.
According to the girl, her mother had been in a relationship with Venkataraju for some time, leading to frequent disputes within the family. Unable to cope with the situation, the girl’s father reportedly left the house nearly five months ago.
The victim alleged that over the past month, her mother and Venkataraju regularly consumed alcohol at home and pressured her to drink as well.
She further claimed that Venkataraju behaved inappropriately with her in the presence of her mother and forced himself on her against her wishes.
The girl said the continued abuse caused severe mental distress and pushed her to the point of attempting suicide by jumping into the Godavari River. However, local residents reportedly noticed the incident in time and rescued her.
Following the incident, the girl approached the Narasapuram Police Station and lodged a complaint. She alleged that police failed to respond seriously and did not take action despite repeated visits.
The allegations have sparked anger among local residents, women’s groups, and child rights activists, who have demanded strict action against those accused.
Activists also called for immediate protection, medical support, and psychological counselling for the victim.
The victim has demanded stringent action against both her mother and Venkataraju, while locals are urging authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation and initiate legal proceedings against those responsible.
