The YSR Congress Party has finally reacted to the vulgar social media trolling targeting its leaders, especially party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his wife Y S Bharati.
Former minister Perni Nani brought some of the alleged trolls before the media and exposed the kind of abusive content being circulated against the couple.
For a long time, social media accounts have reportedly been using Bharati’s photographs directly and posting highly objectionable comments.
Despite this, the YSRCP leadership had not even filed proper police complaints in many such cases.
This silence had disappointed several party workers and supporters, who felt that the leadership was not doing enough to protect Jagan and his family from personal attacks.
Now, with Perni Nani publicly raising the issue, YSRCP supporters say the party has at least finally woken up and started responding.
They are thanking the leadership for taking the matter seriously, though many feel the reaction should have come much earlier.
