Hyderabad: YSR Congress has said that Chandrababu Naidu has been living far from ground reality as he has distanced himself from the common people and despite the claims of having prior knowledge of demonetisation he had used it for his personal benefit and sold the shares of his family-owned company in advance but has been advising the people to use plastic money.
“The share value of Heritage Foods, which was Rs 199 before TDP came to power was sold in October 2016 at Rs 909, an increase of 4.5 times. The bulk transaction was done ten days before the demonetisation which indicates that Chandrababu Naidu has prior knowledge of the Centre’s move,” party MLA and PAC Chairman Buggana Rajendernath Reddy told reporters here on Sunday.
The apex court has passed serious remarks on the lack of preparation to handle the situation arising out of the demonetisation and the State as well did not take any steps to ease the suffering of the common people.
Chandrababu Naidu has been preoccupied in appropriating his own wealth while advising the people to use plastic money instead of cash which clearly shows that he has a low opinion on the poor and has lost touch with the people.
The number of banks in the rural areas and the number of users makes it clear that the preparedness was sufficient to deal with the situation.
The Chief Minister who claims that he has written a letter to the Centre to pull out the higher denomination notes, has made no efforts to take effective steps to mitigate the suffering of the people.
“He could have talked to the RBI and allowed the people to pay the bills in the old notes and have asked the Fair Price Shops under Public Distribution System to accept the notes besides asking the Centre to extend the deadline.
Government transactions could be carried out through the higher denomination notes and being a coalition partner he could talk to the Centre and provide more relief to the farmers,” he said.
When people are going through a difficult phase, the Government has been pursuing with its Jana Chaitanya Yatras and trying to project itself before the mobilised crowd and any question which goes against the establishment brings irritation which the ruling party could not hide.
A senior leader likening Special Category Status to that of the old notes shows the mind-set of the TDP, he said.
At least now, Chandrababu Naidu should convene an all Party meeting and write a letter to the Centre to provide relief to the common man during the transition period in wake of the demonetisation, he said.
