Students of Kasturbha Gandhi Degree and PG College, Secunderabad took part in a protest along with their lecturers seeking regularization of teaching and non-teaching staff.
The issue is essentially one between the lecturers and non-teaching staff and the government. Why then did the students need to participate in the protest?
This marks a growing trend across the country where students are spending more time protesting rather than attending to their academics.
In FTII Pune, the students are demanding the ouster of Gajendra Chauhan as their Head on the grounds that he is a mediocre person for an institute like the FTII. Since, when did students start to appoint the heads of institutes across the country?
If they like FTTI, they should study there, if not, they should just leave. Are their fundamental rights being violated in any way?
Similarly, the lecturers of Kasturbha Gandhi College and the non-teaching staff had no right to involve the students in their protest. Such encouragement will only incite students to rebel at the slightest sign of authority in future.
