Even as reports from New Delhi suggest a possible reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, speculation is growing over whether Union Home Minister Amit Shah could be elevated to the post of Deputy Prime Minister.
Although there has been no official confirmation from either the NDA government or the Bharatiya Janata Party, former YSR Congress Party leader and ex-Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy has already extended his congratulations to Shah.
Taking to X, Sai Reddy wrote, “If reports that Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah ji will be appointed Deputy Prime Minister in the upcoming Cabinet reshuffle are true, it would be a welcome decision in the national interest.”
He further said, “Amit Shah has repeatedly demonstrated decisive leadership, administrative ability and political acumen, making him well deserving of such a responsibility. It would also be fitting for him to occupy a position once held by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.”
Sai Reddy’s endorsement has also triggered political speculation in Andhra Pradesh.
Political observers are debating whether his praise for Amit Shah is an attempt to strengthen his ties with the BJP amid continuing speculation over his future political plans.
