Another member of the influential Bhuma family from Nandyal district is set to enter active politics, with actor Manchu Manoj announcing that his wife, Bhuma Mounika, will contest the next elections.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Manchu Manoj confirmed Mounika’s political entry and said the couple intends to expand their social service activities across the Telugu states through their newly established charitable organisation, Aikya Dhairya Sena Samithi.
The trust’s name was unveiled by Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav. According to Manoj, the organisation will focus on social welfare programmes, including child adoption support initiatives and blood donation drives.
The trust will be formally launched on May 20, coinciding with Manchu Manoj’s birthday celebrations.
Clarifying the organisation’s objectives, Manoj asserted that the trust is not a political outfit and has no direct connection with politics.
He said the initiative was created to function as a voice for the people and to undertake welfare activities using their own financial resources.
At the same time, Manoj openly declared that Bhuma Mounika would contest the upcoming elections, noting that they were already indirectly associated with public life and political activity.
The announcement has triggered speculation over the political future of the couple and the party from which Mounika may eventually contest.
The Bhuma family has had a long-standing association with both the YSR Congress Party and the Telugu Desam Party.
Late leaders Bhuma Nagi Reddy and Sobha Nagi Reddy had worked with both parties during their political careers.
Their daughter and former minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, who entered politics through the YSRCP before later joining the Telugu Desam Party, is currently serving as a TDP MLA.
The Manchu family is also known to share close ties with YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, leading to speculation over whether Bhuma Mounika may eventually align with the YSRCP, TDP or another political platform.
There have also been past reports suggesting that Manchu Manoj could join the Jana Sena Party led by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
