The Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee (JAC) Amaravati, representing various employee organisations, has warned the state government that it will announce a fresh course of agitation if the long-pending issues of government employees are not resolved.
The warning comes amid growing frustration among employees and their associations over the delay in addressing their demands, even after more than two years of the NDA government being in power.
JAC leaders said crucial decisions on their future course of action would be taken at a State-level meeting scheduled to be held in Vijayawada on August 28.
The employee unions demanded the immediate resolution of pending issues, payment of arrears and implementation of assurances made to employees in the NDA alliance’s election manifesto.
They also urged the government to put an end to delays in taking decisions after holding discussions with employee representatives.
Warning the government not to mistake the patience of employees for weakness, the JAC leaders said they would continue to fight for employees’ rights.
They maintained that questioning the government over employees’ problems was their legitimate right and appealed to employees, teachers and pensioners to remain united.
The JAC has decided to organise a State-level conference in Vijayawada on August 28, where its leadership will discuss and finalise the future course of agitation.
Division-, district- and State-level leaders of employee associations have been asked to attend the conference in large numbers. The JAC warned that if the government failed to respond immediately and resolve the pending issues, the agitation would be intensified across Andhra Pradesh.
The leaders also appealed to the AP NGGO JAC, AP Secretariat Employees Association and other employee and teachers’ organisations to join the united movement.
They called for a collective struggle to secure the employees’ demands and protect their self-respect.
