As the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, completes two years in office next month, the YSR Congress Party has decided to step up its public outreach campaign.
YSRCP president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who returned to India after completing his foreign tour to London, was back at his Tadepalli camp office on Tuesday.
Sources within the YSRCP indicate that Jagan has now decided to shift his focus back to active political engagement and organisational restructuring.
Following the YSRCP’s defeat in the 2024 Assembly elections, Jagan largely confined himself to constituency-level meetings and district visits, mainly aimed at consoling party workers and supporters.
Though plans for wider district tours and cadre interaction programmes were discussed last year, they did not fully materialise.
Now, party insiders say Jagan is preparing to intensify political activity across the state.
A key meeting with senior party leaders has reportedly been scheduled for May 13, during which the prevailing political situation in Andhra Pradesh will be reviewed in detail.
Discussions are also underway within the party regarding the YSRCP plenary session on July 8 and 9 this year.
Several leaders believe that organising the plenary could help revive morale among party workers and rebuild organisational momentum ahead of future political campaigns.
Sources suggest that Jagan is also considering extensive district tours before embarking on a major padayatra next year.
The upcoming leadership meeting is expected to decide whether the party should prioritise the plenary session or immediately begin statewide district-level outreach programmes.
In addition, Jagan is reportedly reviewing the pending list of constituency coordinators and may soon finalise key organisational appointments.
He has allegedly instructed party leaders to prepare for a more aggressive political role in the coming months.
With the ruling TDP set to organise its prestigious Mahanadu conclave in Nellore later this month, political observers believe Jagan is preparing a counter-strategy aimed at reviving the YSRCP’s grassroots strength.
Party leaders expect important announcements from Jagan in the coming days regarding the party’s future political roadmap.
