Speculation over an impending Union Cabinet reshuffle has intensified, with indications that the BJP-led NDA government may allocate an additional ministerial berth from Andhra Pradesh to each of its alliance partners—the Telugu Desam Party and the Jana Sena Party.
At present, Andhra Pradesh is represented by three Union ministers, including two from the TDP and one from the BJP.
Political circles are now abuzz with speculation that the Jana Sena Party could also receive a berth in the proposed expansion.
According to sources, the TDP leadership is assessing regional and social representation before finalising its choice.
Andhra Pradesh’s current representation in the Union Cabinet includes leaders such as Srinivasa Varma, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, who represent different parts of the state.
As a result, attention has now shifted towards Rayalaseema, which currently lacks direct representation in the Union Cabinet.
Political observers believe that a leader from the Reddy community may be considered to strengthen the NDA’s regional and social outreach.
Among the names being discussed is Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, as Nellore is often regarded as part of the Greater Rayalaseema region.
However, TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly favouring Nandyal MP Byreddy Sabari, who has emerged as an effective speaker with a good command of various subjects.
There is also internal discussion about ensuring greater representation for Scheduled Castes.
According to political speculation, the NDA may balance social equations by offering a gubernatorial post to an SC leader while considering a Union ministerial berth for a representative from the Reddy community.
Party insiders suggest that if the present political calculations remain unchanged until the final stage of decision-making, Byreddy Sabari could emerge as the front-runner for the Union Cabinet berth.
However, the final decision is expected to depend largely on consultations between Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the BJP’s central leadership.
