With Andhra Pradesh preparing for local body elections, a survey conducted by Chanakya Strategies has claimed that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) currently enjoys the highest vote share among political parties in the state.
According to the AP Survey 2026 released by the organisation, the TDP recorded a projected vote share of 46.9 per cent, followed by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) with 35 per cent.
The Jana Sena Party was placed at 9 per cent, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was estimated to have a 3.5 per cent vote share. Other parties and candidates together accounted for 5.6 per cent, according to the survey.
The survey was reportedly conducted over two months across all 175 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh and covered 52,500 respondents.
The organisation said it studied public opinion, voter perceptions, local political developments and the performance of elected representatives.
The survey report referred to several welfare and development initiatives being implemented by the state government, including the Stree Shakti free bus travel scheme for women, Thalliki Vandanam, employment-related initiatives, Annadata Sukhibhava, the job calendar and NTR Bharosa pensions.
At the same time, the survey reportedly found dissatisfaction with several local elected representatives despite what it described as continued public confidence in the Chandrababu Naidu government's administration at the state level.
The report claimed that some MLAs, MPs and other public representatives faced allegations of corruption and irregularities involving sand, soil and other local issues.
It also noted a gap between claims regarding investments and employment generation and the public's demand for greater clarity on when projects for which agreements had been signed would actually commence commercial operations.
According to the report, people wanted more information on the implementation of investment proposals and the number of industries that had actually begun operations.
The survey claimed that the YSRCP had strengthened its position in parts of Kadapa and Kurnool districts. In Kadapa, it said the YSRCP appeared to have an advantage in most constituencies except Kamalapuram.
In Kurnool, the survey attributed the changing political situation to factors including the performance of ruling alliance leaders, dissatisfaction among party cadres and the level of coordination among the TDP, Jana Sena and BJP.
The report also included constituency-wise and district-wise assessments of MLAs. Its state-level MLA rankings featured Mangalagiri MLA Nara Lokesh, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Pithapuram MLA Pawan Kalyan and Palakollu MLA Nimmala Ramanaidu.
