It appears that the Congress high command is trying to pacify senior MLA Konda Surekha, who was recently stripped of her ministerial post following differences with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
On Friday, Telangana Congress affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan is learnt to have spoken over the phone with Surekha, who has been staying away from the ongoing monsoon session of the State Assembly.
According to party sources, Natarajan spoke directly to Surekha and discussed the latest political developments in the state, as well as issues within the Congress party.
The conversation reportedly focused on the need for Surekha to set aside personal issues and internal differences and once again become actively involved in party programmes.
The phone call assumes significance following Surekha’s removal from the Telangana Cabinet. Her absence from the ongoing Assembly session had also become a subject of discussion within Congress circles.
Sources said the Congress high command intervened and asked Meenakshi Natarajan to speak to Surekha as part of efforts to address the situation.
The development has now raised questions over whether Surekha will attend the remaining proceedings of the Assembly following her conversation with the Telangana Congress affairs in-charge.
