Former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reportedly wants to give more senior YSR Congress Party leaders important roles at the party’s central office in Tadepalli.
Recently, former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao was called to Tadepalli, where he held discussions with Jagan for nearly 40 minutes.
According to party sources, Jagan asked Dharmana to regularly visit Tadepalli and take care of party activities. Dharmana is also said to have agreed to the proposal.
However, nothing moved forward after that meeting. Dharmana has remained silent, raising questions within the party.
Sources say Jagan was considering giving Dharmana a position almost equal to that of Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.
Dharmana is known for speaking in a dignified manner and handling political issues maturely. He has strong knowledge of public affairs and can effectively explain complicated matters to the people.
He also has decades of direct contact with the public. Many party leaders believe that a senior politician like Dharmana is badly needed at the YSRCP headquarters.
At present, there is a feeling within the party that very few leaders at the Tadepalli office have a direct connection with common people.
There is also dissatisfaction that some leaders who remain close to Jagan are dominating other senior leaders. Party workers believe that leaders with strong public connections should be present at the headquarters to listen to their problems.
Jagan reportedly wanted Dharmana to act as a senior guiding force at Tadepalli for this reason.
Many expected Dharmana to start working from the central office soon. However, his arrival has been delayed repeatedly, leading to fresh speculation.
Some are wondering whether Dharmana feared that he would not be able to deal with the powerful group already operating from the Tadepalli office.
His absence could be politically damaging to the YSRCP, as several leaders believe the party headquarters needs more experienced and people-friendly faces.
There is growing dissatisfaction within the party over leaders who allegedly have little public connection but continue to control key decisions.
Critics say the public did not accept such leaders when the YSRCP was in government, and the same problem continues even after the party lost power.
Despite this criticism, Jagan continues to depend on the same group.
Many party leaders feel there is no harm in retaining them, but fresh and experienced leaders should also be brought into the system.
Jagan appears to have taken one step forward by inviting Dharmana, but the plan has now moved several steps backwards.
